Getting Involved

I am really happy that people are willing to help.  I think that they probably think that they are not helping a lot, they are and it is greatly appreciated.  I think it is a wonderful thing that people can do a good thing without a great amount of effort.  When we were at the lunch we talked to a dean at my school and she thought that our project was a well thought out idea.  She also said that they we chose a project that we can do not having a hard time and being able to get everyone involved.  I think that this will be a more effective project them a lot of the other ones because everyone from sixth graders to teachers can get involved and do something good for the environment.

Starting to Collect

We have started to collect all the paper bags for our project.  We went to all of the lunch periods and talked to the students.  When we were talking about our project everyone was listening and they put bags in the bin right away.  Our Speech explained what we were trying to do.  People seemed really receptive and seemed to enjoy what we were trying to do for the environment.  The result was extremely positive and most of the students that had paper bags put them into the bin.

Helping the Environment

Did you know that every paper bag that you use that you don’t recycle can not be used again and is taking up way too much room in landfills?  Well if not, now you do and you can do something about it and you can change it.  It may take a few extra steps to walk to a paper recycling bin but this is what you have to do to help keep the environment safe and clean.  Each bag that you use as a lunch bag or every big brown bag you get from a store or the supermarket can be used again by you, or someone else, and/or it can be made into something else.  So even though it may not seem like it that few steps you take is making the environment a cleaner place to live.

Reuse, Re-new, Recycle!

Most people also just throw their paper bags onto the ground by someone who is expecting someone else to pick them up.  Most likely most people or at least some people reading this blog have dropped their paper bags onto the floor and that means that they have littered.  Not only are you effecting yourself and other people around you, you are affecting the environment.  This means that you are ruining natural recourses which is not helping anyone. You may not realize it and it may not effect you in your lifetime but I will affect your kids and your grandchildren and others to come. So next time you are eating out of a paper bag please either throw it out or recycle it.  So as our modo says Renew, Re-use, Recycle.

My TMS saves project

Hi! For my TMS Saves project I am working with my friend and we are collecting paper bags.  We are doing this in the middle school cafeteria.  We are going to make this a public thing so everyone will know about it.  We are going to make an announcement on the P.A. and we will be pacing out flyers.  So we are not wasting a ton of paper we are buying recycled paper so we can print out copies.  We are not going to print out a lot of copies (about 30- 50) because most people throw them out and do not really look at them so they end up being a waste.
